Diego Galvis Garzon
Project Designer
Diego Galvis joined the Vellum team in 2020 as Project Designer. A seasoned specialist in Urban Design, he has been instrumental in designing many of Vellum’s recent modern home projects. Due to this, his positive attitude, and tireless energy, Diego is a powerful force in the workplace. He believes that every building is a physical embodiment of an individual’s unique style and taste. As a result, the structures he designs are tailored to capture the idiosyncrasies of each client. Diego has always had a keen eye for building styles and architecture. As a child, he was deeply devoted to this craft and spent the more significant part of his formative years making models of buildings and landscapes that caught his eye. Born and raised in Colombia, his style is heavily influenced by the various elements of nature that made up the landscape surrounding the small city he lived in as a child.
Driven to pursue his childhood passion to the fullest, Diego chose to immerse himself entirely in the field upon graduation. He would spend the next five years with the city’s Santa Rosa de Cabal Urban Development Department. There, Diego specialized in approving various housing, institutional and commercial projects. From there, he went on to get a second degree in Urban Design.
A true thought leader in the field, he was quickly recruited to the Department of Engineers of the Colombian Army. There, he proved pivotal to constructing numerous military facilities, including multiple bases and a hospital. Diego left the army in 2016 for Atlanta, Georgia to broaden his repertoire of skills. He spent the next three years overseeing the construction and renovation of multiple high-profile properties before moving to Asheville. When Diego isn’t busy preparing the plans for his next big project, you can find him working up a good sweat in the gym. An outgoing person, he enjoys sampling the local cuisines and meeting new people.
